Consultation
Clinical Consultation
Clinical consultation is a professional process in which a clinician seeks guidance or feedback from another qualified mental health professional regarding counselling and therapeutic scenarios. Clients may be working in a private practice or for an agency. At NTA the Clinical Consultation process is sensitive to sociopolitical experiences, recognizes expertise, creates a safer space for critical thinking and reflective practice. Our work can involve deepening understanding of professional issues, expanding knowledge of client worldview, discussing culturally responsive assessment and intervention practices, ethical dilemmas and other clinical concerns.

My virtual clinical consultation services would benefit Social Work, Mental Health, Allied Professionals and Students who are racialized, marginalized and/or work with these populations seeking an anti-racism/anti-oppression, intersectional, equity focused, cross-cultural competency based safer space to expand their knowledge, skills and ethical practice.
Key Pillars:
-
Collaboration: A collaborative relationship allows counsellors and clinicians to share insights and experiences.
-
Expertise: Provide specialized knowledge and expertise that can enhance the clinician's understanding and approach.
-
Problem-Solving: Help identify challenges and develop effective strategies to address therapeutic situation.
-
Skill Development: Assist in developing cross-cultural competencies, knowledge and practices through exposure to different perspectives and methodologies.
-
Goals: Assist clinician in developing goals in key areas of development.
-
Resources: Share relevant resources and reference material when needed.

Please note:
Clinical consultation is not clinical supervision. Consultation focuses on one professional sharing experiences, providing guidance and expertise with another.
